On the Sixth Day of Christmas My True Love Gave To Me…

… Six Super Strikes, FIVE MOMENTS OF PEACE!!!!! Four Yummy Chocolate Crinkles, Three Rock-hard Sugar Cookies, Two Chocolate Melting Moments and some fabulously delicious Checkerboard Coook-kiiiees!

It was bowling night with Elizabeth and Tommy down at the Parkway Bowl. Adelle couldn’t make it due to a nasty cold that I did not envy (I could feel the achy, sore throat, throbbing nostril-ness when we spoke on the phone) but we still managed to have a rip-roaring time. It all started out at On the Boarder where we got to have a good time discussing The Gates’ Family cat, Lilypop, being in heat while enjoying 18 ounce goblets of BudLight and one of the best mango margaritas I’ve ever tasted. Then we hopped across Fletcher Parkway to get our bowl on. We opted out of “Cosmic Bowling” (which actually looked really cool, but I think being in an indie folk-emo-rock-pop band was required, or at least wearing the standard plaid shirt and forgoing hair cuts for at least 6 months) Instead we did regular bowl for an hour and were lucky enough to have a lane right next to the bar and the bathroom!! The Gates had “prepped” us through out dinner about how “bad they were at bowling and even tried at first to psych us out. Tommy points out that we are in the 4th frame and that there were 10 pins in each frame, and Elizabeth only managed to hit 9 of them. We laughed, thinking Team Cox had this one in the bag…. until the Lizinator rolled like 4 strikes, 2 spares, and won the game 25 points ahead of the next person.

The next game, however, the Lizinator wasn’t so lucky because I found Orange Ball Medium Eight and rolled two strikes in a row. I guess I must have bragged too much because I then rolled a 3, a 6, and then a 4 or something horrible. I never got to six strikes by myself, but called upon the skills of my fellow players to bowl for the blog. Matt threw the sixth strike and then we had a round of “speed bowling” to play out the remaining 4 minutes of time we had left. Tommy started bowling in the lane next to us and threw a two ball grand finale.

Pins everywhere felt the pain as Tommy goes in for the kill.

It was a great night with good friends, good bowling, and Christmas Karaoke?!? Yes, ladies and gentlemen, nothing finishes a night of six strikes than Have a Happy Christmas, Row Row Row Your Boat (made popular by “Children”), Kansas, and the Spice Girls.

Cheers to the Rescue!

Day Three of Twenty.
A trip to San Francisco wouldn’t be complete without a night of karaoke. Kimber filled us in on a Pacifica Karaoke secret, Cheers Bar. The drinks were strong and cheap, the place wasn’t crowded, and they allowed dogs. How could we say no? We got in, got some drinks and I got serious with the song books.

Ruby & Kimber looking pretty!

Before we had a song down, Larry the karaoke regular came over and asked who wanted to sing Journey with him. Yes! I volunteered. Big mistake. Next he wanted to know if I knew the words to “No, no, no” by Alicia Keys. Kimber came to my rescue and polietly shooed him away. Three songs later we heard him. Mad props for a 55 year old Asian guy singing Alicia Keys. Classic. Later, Jose the Karaoke Master let me know that he sees Larry all over the peninsula and that he’s like “…a sticky booger you can’t flick off.” I laughed so hard I almost peed myself. We got in a fair number of songs, even Columbo got on stage!

Columbo taking a party-break.

Kimber dancing with this crazy old man.

Sexy Ladies!!

One down, more to go!!

Me after a few…

Ruby after a few more…

Perhaps due to it’s exotic location (in the Safway parking lot), a fair number of celebrites showed up, including Dog the Bounty Hunter

Dog and Kimber.

and Edward from Twilight was there to show us that real men DO sparkle and Seth Rogan showing off his new svelt body.

Edward and Seth Rogan.

At 1:59am they confiscated our drinks so we headed to Denny’s where we hung out for what seemed like an eternity. We heard a lot of bad jokes (harshbrowns anyone?) and ate a lot of bad food.

Day Three of Twenty. Drunk. Full. And needing to pee.

The post you have all been waiting for. I know, I’ve made you wait. Now, get ready to (re) experience a night like you will never forget – unless you got black-out drunk, like I did.

I would like to say that the night started innocently enough, celebrating my audition, but that would be a lie. We got home, started pouring whiskey and vodka,  and changed into hoe gear. Well, not really hoe gear – there were no backless tops or rubber pants – more like hoe gear for 31 year olds. Ruby had the slit and I was wearing a a skirt meant for a 16 year old on beach day. I did pair it with granny pantyhose and a long sleeve shirt, so it wasn’t that offensive… to me.

Sara was the DD and picked us up after she got out of school. We poured our drinks into “to-go” cups and hopped in the car to pick up John, aka, Emile Hirsch, aka, Lunchbox. I was already loud and drunk (nice). I found a pair of 3D glasses that resembled cheap Ray Bans and decided that they went perfectly with my skirt.

I am beginning to think this is my default sunglasses face.

We finished our drinks and then headed over to the Karaoke Bar to sing the night away. We got a book, we got some drinks, and well…  because I don’t remember much of the night, I’ll let the photos tell the rest:

The Friday Five Six (karaoke style)

9:17 PM: An innocent gathering of friends…

9:52 PM: …quickly becomes a karaoke fest after a round of drinks.
[rockyou id=157446857&w=426&h=319]

10:35 PM: Glasses with florescent straws transform karaoke into American Idol.
[rockyou id=157445328&w=426&h=319]

11:07 PM: The quest for a normal face from John continues…
[rockyou id=157446205&w=426&h=319]

11:32 PM: Beyond the point of no return, the boys break out into song.
[rockyou id=157446341&w=426&h=319]

12:12 AM: By this time, Jeremy gets his hands on the camera and takes 31 photos, including a fashion shoot with Sara.

I don’t remember much after 12:17am (“Thumbs Up to Little Meun”), but I was told that we closed down the karaoke bar, then went to another bar of which I have no memory. Apparently, after Sara tried to get the two drunkest people to drunk more (I’m glad even in my black out state, my body knew that it did not want to end up with alcohol poisoning) the waitress offered us half price drinks for next time and I started making out with an ashtray. Then we went to a pizza place where there was a bar fight (complete with chair throwing), people (maybe us) falling down stairs. Oh and I got lost in the bathroom.

32 people agree that this is some Good Holiday Fun that would make Stephanie proud.

Ruby Time!

Usually when Ruby comes to town we either sit around with the baby watching hours upon hours of Heros and Arrested Development, playing SceneIt, or shopping (although we’re both not working at the moment…), but this time we did lots of fun stuff.

First up, karaoke! With Matt home with baby Jaxon, Ruby and I headed down to the city near my old stomping ground for some karaoke with Ruby’s man, Jeremy. We “pre-partied” in the Yaris while waiting for Jeremy and came in contact with Jeremy’s old Chinese Man look-a-like. I also found some strange looking clowns. The place was pretty empty and since the bartender had a crush on Jeremy and his brother, we got free shots of tequila! After some strong drinks and some penis drawings, we got down to business with some karaoke singing. Ruby actually sang every song! I rocked the house with some Third-Eye Blind, Tainted Love, Journey (I’ve always wanted to sing ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ ever since Peter and the guys did it on Family Guy!), and Bohemian Rhapsody. Too much fun!! It was very nice to get out! Once the boys get over their colds, it will be on again!

Then, Winter Wine Land. Well actually we didn’t do any wine tasting, but we did drive up to Santa Rosa for a few drinks with Kim, Sara and the gang. I had a delicious $7.75 / glass of Seghesio Zinfandel. Smooth but not too sweet. Delicious! I do wish Matt could have been there, alas, no babies allowed at the Flamingo Lounge (with a $10 cover!!) I skipped out on dinner at Willi’s Wine Bar (I heard they ate bone marrow!! Grody!!), but it was good holiday fun.
