New Art: Old Friends and Others

on September 4, 2008

It’s too early in the morning for me considering the time I went to bed last night, but Jaxon wanted to get up and eat so here I am. Yay. My labor day was very un-laborious. The highlight of the weekend was going to to celebrate Liz’s 30th birthday. Oh, and I cranked out a new piece of art! It was a lot of fun to make and looks great in this white IKEA box frame I bought. I was worried about all the colors I used (waaay more than usual) but it turned out just right!

priceless – it’s a gift!

Tuesday was hot so Jax and I didn’t do much of anything during the day. We have started going for walks (I don’t want to balloon up with this second pregnancy – I seem to have an endless stomach lately). Once the night arrived (hurray evening breeze!), I got to work on two new projects. I had already sketched them out, but needed to bust out some paint moves. This next one is my first pink piece! I knew this one would be a favorite when I sketched it out. I am so happy that it turned out once I started applying color. I need to get a bigger paint brush though — I have some good small ones, and some crappy big ones, and one fan brush — but it’s a little hard to use on the more populated pieces.

Up, up, and away!

I always wanted to draw a row of houses (I was inspired by the opening credits of “Juno”). Of course mine look nothing like the opening credits of “Juno” but I guess that’a a good think. I have my own style – LOL! This one I was also fun to make — it’s my recycled paint piece. Colors I already had mixed, plus some white. I was able to finish this before midnight!

Matt was real excited to see me awake when he got home from work — yes, he does get home that late and still manages to do his own art outside of work and promote it. Crazy!!! Anyhow, I’d better go finish the laundry. More to come soon!!
